Joseph Sherlock Christmas Blog
Posted on December 15, 2010 by Joseph Sherlock
A little bit about me:
My name is Joseph Sherlock and I obtained my Acquired Brain Injury in 1986. I have 2 sons and I carry their pictures in my wallet at all times. Family is really important to me. I have been attending Headway 3 days a week since 2003 and I really enjoy it. My pastimes include art, cooking, listening to music and going out for food. Living with a brain injury has not dampened my mood in any way. I am a very upbeat and positive individual and Christmas is my favourite time of year.

Today's blog I want to talk about Christmas and what it means to me and my family. Firstly I must say how happy I am to be still here to celebrate this time of year. I love the Christmas decorations of course the presents and time spent with the family. My son is 23 and is still like a 5 year old which is nice.

Well it is only 1week to our 1st budget that will have the help of the E. U. Most of us in Headway will be worrying about what cutbacks will happen and how it will affect us. Although I am a lifelong supporter of F. F. I think it is wrong the way they denied the help being offered by the E.U. commissioners. For the last 3 weeks I have being worried about the Christmas expenses but all presents are bought and paid for.
On a good note we are close to the Trainee Christmas party which will take place on the 17th of December, which will take place in the Green Isle, last year's party was very good and enjoyed by all.

Learning not to worry
Posted on November 24, 2010 by Alan Byrne
I've had epilepsy since I was 11 years old. This was the same year my Dad past away. But on the positive side the fact that I can't do anything about my epileptic seizures does not worry me; for I've learned not to worry about things that I can't do anything about.
When I have a seizure, I cannot control the muscles in my body but they come back after an hour or an hour and a half so. I just take it easy for a while then everything goes back to normal.
As far as my Dad goes I know that I was very young when he died but I loved him very much and always will and that of my Dad will never fade away.
Martina's Blog: Update
Posted on November 22, 2010 by Martina C
Just an update on what is happening. Things have settled down now which is great. It has made me think about the things I have done since joining Headway a year and a half ago, I am back using the computer again back reading and writing, doing memory work, back to work and health and fitness.
I have done media training; I have had the opportunity to go on telly, radio and interview for the newspapers. I have been involved with the National Advocacy Group that goes to Cork and Limerick and Manor Street in Dublin. All of these things are great for my confidence and helped me in meeting people on a daily basis.
Keeping Faith

I prayed to god everyday thanking him for bring back all my bones and guiding me in the right direction on my path to recovery. I also wish to thank my family for everything that they have done for me. Without their help I would not find myself in the position that I'm now in. Every time I pray I believe that I'm getting a little bit stronger; physically mentally and emotionally.

My name is Alan Byrne and I had a motorbike accident back in the first day in October 2005.To this day I have no recollection of it. My nearest memory is being at my auntie's birthday and talking to my cousin Niall and that was back on the fourth of august.

Hi everyone today I am going to tell you about the next good thing that is to happen. I have been asked to go on TV on Friday week to talk about my brain injury. Yes I am very nervous because I do not know what to expect.
It will be 2 years this Tuesday since I had the heart attack and I am so proud and happy with how much progress I have made and I hope I can get this message over on the interview.
