Headway - Life After Brain Injury

First Christmas at home for five years

I was at home permanently last Christmas for the first time in five years. It felt great being there and again this year.

Although I was in hospitals and a nursing home for up to almost 5 yearsI always knew that I would get home but I also knew that it would be a long journey. As well as the doctors being terrific, I also knew it would of been for nothing if I did not do my share of the work and be determined to recover as much as possible and also stay positive.

This Christmas the only negative thing was the snow. I knew that when the snow went it would turn to ice and there was no way I was walking out in it because the roads were too slippery, although i am a positive person, i have to be realistic also.

Unfortunately I had a seizure on the 28th of December so I took it easy for that day. I am in Headway at the moment twice a week and I'm enjoying it and I would like to thank everyone for having me here. I really feel Headway is making me stronger both mentally and emotionally
