Planning the next trip...
Posted on February 14, 2011 by Tom's Blog
Today is my first day back after the Christmas holidays, I had a great Christmas and then we went on holidays to London for 5 days and Portugal for 12 days. All my life I would have always wanted to visit London but never got the chance and I was pleased to find the people were very nice there. We did a number of things, from doing a bus tour of London, a view of the changing of the guard, a walk of the sights of Jack the Ripper's murder spots and a walk around Abby Road and the area around where the Beatles were in the 60's,which was great. Then we headed to Portugal which we call our second home. After all the snow in Ireland it was great to get a bit of sunshine as the weather was great. We're home now and planning the next trip.

As a regular Blogger I would like to wish all the staff and trainees from Headway a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Next Friday the Clondalkin group we are going to the Green Isle for their night out and we hope to have a good time.

Well it is only 1week to our 1st budget that will have the help of the E. U. Most of us in Headway will be worrying about what cutbacks will happen and how it will affect us. Although I am a lifelong supporter of F. F. I think it is wrong the way they denied the help being offered by the E.U. commissioners. For the last 3 weeks I have being worried about the Christmas expenses but all presents are bought and paid for.
On a good note we are close to the Trainee Christmas party which will take place on the 17th of December, which will take place in the Green Isle, last year's party was very good and enjoyed by all.

...not a lot going on at the moment so I'll tell you about a trip I took to Fethard-On Sea in Co. Wexford yesterday (13th of July). I used to spend each summer here during my teens, so you could say it's my old stomping ground! I bumped into a good friend from back then. Meeting her brought back memories of the reunion we had a year or two ago. We had all met up in a friends bar who still lives there, and had a whale of a night catching up and reminiscing about the good old days. Another reunion would be very much appreciated as I really miss these those days.

Hi Jim here.
A lot of positive things are happening for me at the moment. Over the months of April and May I completed a Neuropsychological assessment. The feedback I received was from both the psychologist and the staff in the Headway day services was very good. It has really lifted my spirits and my mam is also delighted!! I feel like there are more doors open to me know. It feels great to have options. My goal at the moment is to get voluntary work with people with disabilities. Hopefully with the National Council for the blind or the Irish Deaf Society. I'll keep you updated with any progress.

I am a 38 yr old student. 4 Years ago I was on my way to work one morning and suffered a stroke like episode. I have benign Intracranial Hypertension. The residual effects of the damage are evident only to me and those around me who know me very well. I have lost a lot, but gained even more.
For me this disease is the kick start my life needed. I never used to appreciate my life or abilities, now, every achievement means more, even the normal things. Today I remembered to get milk fromt the shop. WOO HOOOOO
