Cork Hurling and Munster Rugby Stars put it between the posts for Headway
30 Mar 2010
Mahon Point Shopping Centre was the venue for a Headway sporting extravaganza last Saturday as the crew from the Ballincollig training centre were joined by members of the Cork hurling team and the Munster Rugby team to promote brain injury and raise funds during a fun family day out. Senior hurlers Ray Ryan, Michael Cussen and Kieran "Fraggy" Murphy (capt.) lined out with Munster players Denis Fogarty and Denis Hurley in a whirlwind of balloons, face-painting and raffle tickets. Unfailingly cheerful, these local heroes signed autographs, blew up balloons, posed for photos and promoted Headway with gusto on the day. Local radio station RedFM also helped out with endless promotion on the day, even posing for pics with the Headway team!

A fantastic day was had by all and the Headway team in Cork would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made the event such a success, especially our tireless face painter Julia Healy, the Cork Hurling team, the Muster Rugby team and Con Horgan who kickstarted the whole thing with his very generous donation of a signed Munster rugby jersey last November. While we don't have a final tally yet as money is still coming in, we estimate that just over 4,000 euro was made from this event so thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for your support.
