National Carers Week 2011 - what we did in Headway
21 Jun 2011
Carers Week was on from the 13 - 19 of June, 2011. It was an opportunity to show family carers how much they are valued and appreciated. We marked the week with events in Dublin, Cork and Wexford.
The Wexford Carers Group held a celebration during their meeting to mark National Carers Week. Everyone enjoyed the cakes, tea and chat. The group is co-facilitated by Headway and ABI Ireland.
In our Carrigrohane Centre in Cork, we held a very successful coffee morning and raffle, to acknowledge the support and care families and friends provide to those affected by an acquired brain injury.
In Dublin, a group of carers came together for a morning of self-care, learning from each other, and a "Hopes and Dreams" balloon release (see the video above).
A big thank you to all the family carers who came, and to Headway staff members whose hard work made the events happen: Sandra Power in Cork, Catherine O'Hare in Wexford, and Ciaran Nolan, Sonya Walsh and Ruth Lunnon, in Dublin.
Thank you, also, to Liam O'Sullivan and Jennifer Johnston, in Care Alliance of Ireland, for their support in preparing for National Carers Week.
