Since 1985 Headway has brought positive change to those with acquired brain injury and their carers through a range of community based services tailored to individual needs. We have centres in Dublin, Cork, Kerry and Limerick along with an Information and Education service in the South East. We offer a range of support services to help people live more independent lives after a brain injury.

How to Apply for Headway Services

We accept referrals from individuals with evidence of an Acquired Brain Injury, family members or carers and professionals.

1 Application, Referral and Consent forms

When you apply for services, we ask you to fill in one of the referral forms and two consent forms, available for download here.

2 Evidence of ABI

When we receive your forms, we consult your medical records to obtain further information about the nature of your brain injury.

3 Initial Assessment

When we have established the evidence of ABI from your medical history or other sources, we invite you and a family member, carer, partner or other person who knows you well for an initial appointment with us. This is your chance to say what type of help you are looking for and our chance to meet you and establish how best we will be able to help you.
