Headway - Life After Brain Injury

Employment Support Services (Dublin, Cork)

A step on from rehabilitative training, clients are able to look at their options for returning to work or education. Headway helps to find clients a placement to suit their needs.

What is the aim of the Programme?

Supported Employment Services combines sheltered employment and rehabilitative training. Its central aim is to create an environment where the rebuilding of an individual's skills and confidence can thrive. As such, a structured yet flexible environment has been created such that clients can feel secure yet experience a tailor made programme of activities. Over time an individual should both improve their capabilities and increase their commitment towards rebuilding their lives on a more independent basis. The various activities are designed to enhance and encourage the potential of each individual. This programme recognizes the pivotal role of both the family and community.

How long does it run for?

This programme is designed to meet the individual needs of each client so it can run for a short period of time or for several years. The programme runs from Monday to Thursday from 9.30 to 4 p.m. and Friday until 1 p.m. However, the hours of attendance are quite flexible. For example one person could attend Monday to Friday while another person may only wish to attend one or two mornings or afternoons (particularly when beginning the programme).
